a morning person

You guys! It's February! Did January seem really really long to anyone else? I feel like New Year's Eve/Day was forever ago! Yeahhh, remember New Year's Day?! That lovely day when we all made a little list of goals of what we wanted to accomplish to make 2016 the BEST YEAR EVERRRR?!!


How's that going?

For me? It's been okay. I haven't gone to the gym enough... eaten healthy enough... read enough... or created enough... and I would like to change that.

One thing I'm noticing is that I'm not as productive in the evenings as I'd like to be. There are days when I end up staying at the office until waaay past 6:30... which means I don't get home until waaay past 7. Then I eat dinner, relax for a second... then all of a sudden it's 10 o'clock and I'm falling asleep on the sofa. (Yes, I know! I'm an old lady!) (Yes, ok, I lied, I actually fall asleep on the sofa at 9 o'clock!) But anyway... my question is... how can we make our evenings more productive? How can we (we meaning designers [or maybe just people in general] with full time jobs) live healthier, indulge in hobbies, and accomplish our dreams of amazing passion projects if we basically have an hour or two of free time a day.

The answer is, we can't! We HAVE to give ourselves more quality time. And I'm going to figure out how to do this! And you're going to, too!

The first step, I'm pretty sure will be somewhat easy... well for some of us anyway. The first step is... waking up earlier! Yes! I love sleep too! Aw man, sleep feels so good! And my pillow is the comfiest pillow that was ever made! BUT! I have to stop hitting the snooze button twenty times! I have got to get my butt out of bed before 8am! If I got up earlier and got to work earlier, I could give myself so much extra time in the evenings to workout/read/cook/create! And for you, maybe you could wake up earlier and before heading into work... you can do some sketching, writing, or exercising!

So! Let's start small and see how it goes! Okay! For the next week... I'm doing it... and you are going to hold me accountable... I'm waking up before 7am. Ugh! As I type that, I realize how silly that sounds! But for me, it's the first step into pushing myself to live the life I truly want to be living. You with me?!
